Getting to Know: Chris!
June 24, 2013
This week we are getting to know Chris, another certified veterinary technician (CVT) at Grand Avenue Veterinary Center. Chris is active in rescue work and fosters pets for a local rescue group. After completing her internship with us as part of her education, Chris permanently joined the staff at Grand Avenue Veterinary Center in 2005. In her own words:
What made you decide to become a veterinary technician?
I was doing a lot of volunteering in animal rescue and had come to a career crossroads. I chose to pursue what I love.
Where did you go to school, and what year did you graduate?
I attended Argosy University and graduated in 2005.
Do you have an area of special interest in veterinary medicine?
I enjoy dentistry and have an ongoing special interest in rescue work.
Tell us about your history with Grand Avenue Veterinary Center
I did my internship here in 2005 and when it was completed I was asked to stay on. Accepting was the best decision on my part!
What is your favorite indoor and outdoor activity?
Indoors, I enjoy reading, going to concerts, and spending time with my family. Outdoors, I enjoy walking the dogs or going to the dog park.
What sound do you love?
The sounds of the flute and the harp.
If you could learn anything, what would it be?
I would learn to be a musician or a tennis player.
Tell us about your pets.
Cady is my 14 year old border collie. She is our wonderful, sweet first foster failure. Dotty is foster failure number two; a sweet, active 8 year old yellow lab. She loves to be the boss! Lolly is our first ever cat. Cynthia (another CVT here at GAVC) rescued her in the middle of a cold winter and we took her in. We love her! Maude is our second cat, we raised her from kittenhood. She is a snuggler but doesn’t appreciate other cats so much!
