Getting to Know: Erin!

July 31, 2013

This week, we are getting to know Erin, one of our Customer Service Representatives.  Chances are that Erin is the one answering the phone when you call the clinic or checking you in for your appointment when you arrive, and she also does a lot of important “behind the scenes” work to keep the clinic running smoothly.

What make you decide to become a veterinary receptionist?

I had never thought about working in a veterinary clinic until I applied for the job but now and can’t imagine being anywhere else!

Tell us about your pets.

I have two cats, Pirate and Polly. Pirate (who got her name due to only having one eye) was a stray that was found sitting in a flower pot in a client’s garage on New Year’s Eve a few years ago. She was frostbitten, underweight and filthy; they brought her in so we could care for her and find her a home. I fell in love with her sweet and social personality and adopted her. She now comes to a whistle and will sit on command. Polly, also a stray, was found by Dr. Christopherson as a very scared kitten hiding in some bushes outside of a coffee shop on Lake Street. The two of them became practically inseparable within a couple weeks of being introduced.

Tell us about your history with Grand Avenue Veterinary Center.

I’ve been at Grand Avenue Veterinary Center for almost 6 years and earlier this year I finished a course to get my veterinary receptionist certificate.

What was your favorite food when you were a child?

My dad’s spaghetti.

What is one of your favorite quotes?

“You cannot do great things unless you believe you are great” – Brother Alphonsus Martel

What is your favorite indoor or outdoor activity?

I play on a couple teams for an adult kickball league in the spring and fall, it is a ridiculous amount of fun. I also really enjoy fishing and camping.

What chores do you hate doing?

I actually find most chores and cleaning to be relaxing, but I absolutely hate doing the dishes.

What is your favorite time of the day, day of the week, or month of the year?

Friday is my favorite day of the week. I’m off work Fridays so the day is almost always spent catching up on things I need to do at home.
