Getting to Know Katie!
July 21, 2021
We’re taking this month to get you caught up on all of our wonderful new staff! This week we’re introducing Katie, our newest Customer Service Representative!
What made you decide to work in this field?
I grew up on a farm and have been around animals my whole life, and I always saw myself working in the animal care field somehow!
Where did you go to school?
I went to high school in Hudson, WI. I had been going to college at Argosy, but it closed part way through my fist semester there. I’m hoping to get to back to college somewhere else in a year or so.
Tell us about your pets.
I currently only have 2 pets: a betta fish named Boo and a cat named Flora. I live-trapped Flora as a kitten; she decided she liked eating chicken a whole lot better than being a starving stray and has stuck to me like glue ever since. She drools when she purrs, plays fetch with my hair binders, and is my best friend! My fiancé and I hope to also add a dog to our family next year.
Tell us about your history with Grand Avenue Veterinary Center.
I’ve been with GAVC for about 2 1/2 months now, and I’ve loved every minute of it! I’m a CSR, so I spend my days answering phone calls and emails, and scheduling appointments for our wonderful clients and patients.
What was your favorite food when you were a child?
My favorite food growing up was spaghetti, hands down. My family had to have it for dinner basically every week because I loved it so much!
What is your favorite indoor or outdoor activity?
My favorite indoor activity is playing board games. My fiance’s family members are insanely competitive so it’s always entertaining.
What is your favorite time of the day/day of the week/month of the year?
My favorite month of the year is September. My fiancé and I love watching the leaves change color in the fall, so we usually plan a day trip at the end of the month to go up north and look at all the lovely autumn colors.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
I’ve always wanted to be able to fly, which makes no sense because I’m absolutely terrified of heights.
What sound do you love?
Every morning Flora comes into the bedroom to make sure I’m getting out of bed to come feed her, and she always makes this little “mrrrrp” sound as she’s running to get me. It’s the best way to wake up in the morning!
