COVID-19 : Preparing for your visit

March 22, 2020

Dear clients of Grand Avenue Veterinary Center,

Our practice remains open to serve the community and we have made some changes to ensure we can do so. These measures are being taken to maximize the safety, health, and well being of our staff, our patients, and our clients.

We have instituted “curbside” service only at this time. See below for details.

Picking up medication and prescription food:

  • Please call ahead to make your request and to take care of payment over the phone.

  • You will receive confirmation from our staff when your order is ready for pick up.

  • Call the clinic (651-224-3038) or text our clinic phone (651-324-3000) when you arrive at the clinic. Let us know if you are near our front or back entrance.

  • One of our staff will place your food or prescriptions in a labelled bin outside either our front or back doors.

  • You may retrieve your order from the bin.

  • Also remember you can use our online store for direct home delivery of food and medication.

Dropping off a urine or stool specimen:

  • Please call the clinic when you have arrived at our clinic and that you are dropping off a sample. We will take all pertinent medical history over the phone as well as payment for the testing.

  • We ask that you bring the specimens in clean/sturdy containers that are clearly labeled with Patient name/Client first and last name/Contact information.

  • There is a designated bin at both our front and back entrances to leave the sample.

  • We will notify you once the results of the testing are available.

Bringing your pet to see us for a medical need:

  • Please park in our back parking lot whenever possible, especially if you are bringing in your dog.

  • Call the clinic (651-224-3038) or text our clinic phone (651-324-3000) when you arrive at the clinic. Let us know if you are near our front or back entrance.

  • Our medical staff will chat with you via phone about the initial plan for the visit and to address your concerns. In instances of medical concerns, a veterinarian will need to evaluate your pet before a treatment plan will be created and discussed.

  • If your pet is in a carrier, please bring the carrier near the front or rear entrance and place the carrier on the ground by the door. We will greet your pet with a warm pheromone towel to cover the carrier and bring him/her into the clinic. You can return to your car while the staff is caring for your pet.

  • If your pet is on a leash, we prefer you use our back parking lot. Please bring them near the bottom of the steps and wait for our staff to greet you. We will reach for the leash and once it’s in hand, we will add an additional slip lead to ensure your pet’s safety while we transport to the clinic. You can return to your car while the staff is caring for your pet.

  • Our staff will call you about the visit and to discuss the plan for care.  We will get your payment via phone and alert you when your pet is ready to go home.  Your pet will be brought right outside the front or rear entrance, reversing the steps above to ensure safe social distancing at all times.

Please do not be offended when we ask you if you are currently ill, have had an exposure to someone who is ill, or have had a history of recent travel when you schedule an appointment and arrive for a visit. We want to be fully prepared and we will make particular recommendations and arrangements in those instances.

We are doing everything we can to keep our staff healthy so we can stay open to help you and your pets. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this challenging time.

In step with all of you,

Love and peace from the doctors and staff at Grand Avenue Veterinary Center
